Autoimmune Research with Dr. PJ Utz
04 Dec 2013 Arthritis Now sat down with Dr. P.J. Utz, Professor of Medicine in Rheumatology and Immunology at Stanford University. Dr Utz serves as the Medical Scientist Training Program Director at Stanford as well, where he trains up-and-coming scientists in a laboratory setting and helps them to formulate their research projects in a way that puts them on the path for success. In part 1 of Dr. Utz’s interview, he talks about his own research – involving connective tissue diseases, like lupus – what it meant to him to be funded by the Arthritis National Research Foundation, and how his lab is researching the diseases of the very patients he sees in his clinic.
