Arthritis… Is this what you thought?

Arthritis… Is this what you thought?

Arthritis affects an estimated 52 million Americans including 300,000 children. That’s right kids get arthritis. It’s called juvenile arthritis and it can rob them of their childhood. Juvenile arthritis can cause extreme pain, swollen joints, fatigue and, in extreme cases, can lead to complications resulting in death.
The video above was shown at this year’s Meet The Scientists Gala to highlight juvenile arthritis and autoimmune forms of arthritis like rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, fibromyalgia, scleroderma and many others. These are aggressive autoimmune diseases that always diminish one’s quality of life and may even cut these inspiring lives short.

Arthritis Research is the Key to Finding a Cure

The video also explains how we at the Arthritis National Research Foundation (ANRF) are working to fund the next cutting-edge research, research like that of Dr. Gale “Morrie” Granger who discovered tumor necrosis factor (TNF) and lymphotoxins. Dr. Granger’s discoveries led to the current, most effective treatment for these autoimmune forms of arthritis, biologic therapy. Thanks to the discoveries by Dr. Granger and the funding from ANRF, many individuals have gotten their lives back and the quality of life they deserve. At ANRF, we are funding the next Dr. Granger’s, researchers with innovative ideas ready to make an impact.

Only 30% of Autoimmune Arthritis Patients Respond to Therapy

Only about 30% of all arthritis patients respond to biologic therapy, which means we still have research to fund and work to do. We need your help to continue this research, please make a donation today and be a part of the next big discovery. Help kids like Gianna, Jordan, Caitlin and Max (featured in the video) get their childhoods back and help adults like Britt, Aimee and Alan (also featured in the video) live with the quality of life we all deserve!

I’m sick of all the time and money that the AF throws at RA and practically NOTHING is being done for OSTEOARTHRITIS patients. I never see one commercial for a new drug for pain relief. NOTHING! No new hope for reversing or slowing down this degenerative disease. There must be more money in it for you to work with Big Pharma on cures for RA? I’ve asked this same question of the major pharmaceutical companies and have yet to get an answer. Maybe the Arthritis Foundation who is supposed to be on the side of arthritis sufferers, can give me one?
