2024 ANRF Annual Research Scholar Symposium: A Celebration of Collaboration and Discovery

As the curtains close on another successful ANRF Annual Research Scholar Symposium, we find ourselves reflecting on the wealth of knowledge, insight, and connections shared during this transformative event. From captivating keynote speeches to thought-provoking panel discussions, the symposium delivered the latest discoveries and innovations in arthritis and autoimmune disease research.

Highlights and Memorable Moments
Throughout the symposium, attendees had the opportunity to delve into a myriad of topics, each shedding light on critical aspects of arthritis and autoimmune diseases. Highlights included renowned experts Hal Hoffman, MD, and Lori Broderick, MD, PhD, who delivered compelling keynote addresses, offering insights into disease mechanisms and therapeutic interventions. Two panels, “Finding Funding Success” and “The Business of Running a Lab,” called on expert alumni and members of ANRF’s Scientific Advisory Board to share their experiences. These panels provided a platform for vibrant discussions and knowledge exchange.

Among the standout moments of the symposium included was the heartfelt speech delivered by patient speaker Adriana Gonzalez, whose 25-year journey with Lupus underscored the profound impact of research on patients’ lives. Additionally, the presentations by second-year ANRF scholars and the inaugural poster session featuring first-year scholars added depth and diversity to the symposium, showcasing the promising research being conducted by emerging scientists.

Networking and Connections
One of the hallmarks of the symposium was the opportunity for attendees to connect with peers, mentors, and industry leaders. Attendees engaged in meaningful discussions, forged new collaborations, and laid the groundwork for future advancements in research.

Looking Ahead
As we bid farewell to this year’s symposium, we are filled with anticipation for the future. The event illuminated the importance of creating spaces for scientists to convene, share ideas, and foster connections, ultimately leading to collaboration and advancements in our understanding of arthritis and autoimmune diseases.

Mark your calendars for next year’s symposium, set to take place in March 2025 at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. We look forward to continuing the journey of discovery, collaboration, and innovation with you.

Thank You
Finally, we extend our sincere gratitude to our sponsors, AbbVie and Lilly, our CME grant supporters, Janssen and Pfizer, and to the incredible staff of the La Jolla Institute for Immunology. Without their generosity, the symposium would not have been possible.

Thank you to all who participated in Innovation Ignited, the 2024 Annual ANRF Research Scholar Symposium. Your passion, dedication, and enthusiasm have made it a resounding success. Together, we are making strides towards a future filled with hope, and discoveries that will change the patient experience.
